State Duma deputies have developed a bill that introduces criminal liability for violating the requirements for anti-terrorist protection of facilities. About it informed Head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications Alexander Khinshtein.
A new article in the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for up to three years in prison if the violation of the requirements has negligently caused serious harm to human health or major damage (from 1 million rubles). If the violation led to the death of a person, then the punishment will be up to five years in prison.
The maximum penalty under the article is up to seven years in prison. Such a period is provided in the event of the death of two or more persons.
“It is necessary that all officials realize the degree of their responsibility. In our opinion, the appearance of a new composition in the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation will have a serious preventive value and will prevent new tragedies, ”he wrote in his Telegram channel.
Khinshtein specified that the bill was developed jointly with the chairman of the Duma security committee, Vasily Piskarev, and other deputies. He noted that the government and the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation have already supported this initiative. The project will be submitted to the State Duma “in the near future,” the deputy added.
On March 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin during an operational meeting with members of the Security Council raised the issue of measures for the anti-terrorist protection of objects under the jurisdiction of law enforcement agencies. Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev also made a report at the meeting.
The meeting took place in the background attacks Ukrainian saboteurs in the Bryansk region on March 2. As a result, two people died, and an 11-year-old teenager was also injured. The so-called “Russian Volunteer Corps” took responsibility for the sabotage. Commenting on the incident, Putin characterized him like a terrorist attack.
