Khinshtein: mobilized will be able to deposit their weapons with the state in an expedited manner

State Duma deputies, together with the Russian Guard, are developing an initiative under which citizens who are mobilized or undergoing military service under a contract will be able to hand over personal weapons for state storage on a priority basis. This was announced by the head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Alexander Khinshtein.

“Weapons owners who fall under partial mobilization or voluntarily enter into a contract for military service should have a priority and extraordinary right to hand over their weapons to the state on an expedited basis for indefinite storage. This is also important in order to ensure its safety,” Mr. Khinshtein wrote in his Telegram channel.

He noted that the order to accept the weapons of mobilized and contract soldiers out of turn is already being sent by the leadership of the National Guard. In the event of the death of the owner, the weapon will pass to his heirs.

The National Guard issues a license to keep and carry civilian weapons. According to the law, civilian weapons and ammunition must be stored at the owner’s place of residence in a safe place that is inaccessible to unauthorized persons, including family members. In the event of the death of the owner, the heir must acquire a license before being able to use or keep the weapon. Prior to the issuance of a license, it will be transferred to state storage.
