The Russian authorities are not considering a ban on the use of American Apple technology for ordinary citizens of the Russian Federation. This was announced on Tuesday, August 1, by Alexander Khinshtein, chairman of the Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications.

The parliamentarian wrote in his Telegram channel that the question of banning the use of Apple gadgets for ordinary Russians is not worth it.

At the same time, Roskomnadzor will check the security of the iPhone and iPad from surveillance, since the security of storing personal data that goes to Apple’s foreign servers cannot be guaranteed, Khinshtein emphasized.

Earlier, sources said that the Russian Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation imposed a ban on the use of Apple technology for work, asking employees switch from iPhone to other smartphones. It was also reported that the Federal Customs Service banned employees from using Apple gadgets.

Russian fighter Oleg Taktarov stated that he does not use iPhone because he is “traceable, eavesdropping completely”.
