Khabarovsk “Amur” beat “Avtomobilist” in Yekaterinburg

Apparently, the head coach of Amur was right when after second home game with Ak Bars, which “by the way” “Amur” still lost in overtime, said that the team had finally started to come together, and he was satisfied with the content of that game. The specialist’s instincts did not disappoint. Already in a match in Chelyabinsk, with local Traktor, “Amur” won a difficult victory over a very stubborn opponent. And ahead was a trip to Yekaterinburg and another difficult opponent – Avtomobilist.

The previous game with the Ekaterinburg team did not go well for Amur. Having scored in the first period, the Khabarovsk team conceded in the third, and then lost in a shootout. Now there was hope to take revenge, as they say in courage. Moreover, Avtomobilist began to lose a little – with difficulty, in overtime, they beat Vityaz, and then were completely defeated by Magnitogorsk Metallurg. However, this could also work as motivation – the opponent would want to prove to the fans that he is worth something.

The Khabarovsk team did not change the lineup much, only Igor Bobkov, well known to the Ekaterinburg residents, stepped into the goal. Well, their place in the frame was taken by Evgeniy Alikin, well known to Khabarovsk residents. The Khabarovsk team immediately went forward and created quite a few dangerous chances near the goalkeeper of Avtomobilist. However, Alikin coped, and coped very well, fending off a seemingly inevitable goal from Dmitry Shevchenko. The hosts also responded with several dangerous moments.

In fact, it was an opponent’s pass, but to the wrong player, Evgeny Grachev and Kirril Kapustin broke into operational space and, like two meteors, rushed towards Evgeny Alikin’s goal, Grachev passed it to Kapustin, then threw it on the move – a goal. There were 5 seconds left before the end of the period and such a goal clearly did not please Nikolai Zavarukhin – “auto” has been let down by negligence in the implementation of the majority.

At the beginning of the second period, apparently after group therapy in the locker room, the hosts tried with all their might to take the lead again, but were unsuccessful – Igor Bobkov was reliable. Brooks Macek then breaks the rules, leaving his team shorthanded. “Amur” cleverly sets up in the “auto” zone. Alexander Khokhlachev makes a pass to the penny, where Vladislav Barulin is already on duty, having corrected the puck into the goal. The Tigers take the lead.

This happened in the 26th minute of the meeting, and seven seconds later Artur Gizdatullin hammered another puck into Alikin’s goal almost from the blue line. It feels like Arthur himself didn’t expect to score. However, the Avtomobilist goalkeeper was unable to handle the puck more accurately with its ricochets. 1:3 – the advantage is more than significant and a good bid for victory.

It is clear that in the remaining time Avtomobilist tried in every possible way to reduce the gap in the score, but even replacing the goalkeeper with a sixth field player two minutes before the final siren did not help. The result is a victory for Amur with a score of 3:1. And again we note the dedication of the Khabarovsk team. Igor Bobkov reflected 33 goals, Amur defenders blocked another 21 shots.

“Good game from both teams, we clearly played for the result, scored good goals in the majority, minority, and equal strength. I’ll note the goalkeeper’s performance. It was hard for Igor to enter the season, his first full game of the season, he played well. The team blocked a lot of shots and played according to the score. The goalkeeper coach knew, they planned that Bobkov would play on the trip, they decided to trust Igor today and they were right. Our coaching staff believes that clear, selfless defensive play is the key to success. If you don’t take the puck away from your opponent, you’ll never win. Considering our geographical location, I think that this is a decent result and a normal game. We play selflessly, we work hard, I’m grateful to the guys for that,” he emphasized after the match Andrey Martemyanov, head coach of HC Amur.

In its turn Nikolai Zavarukhin, head coach of Avtomobilist noted that despite a good start, his team apparently still did not deserve luck – they lacked composure and concentration. Especially in the majority.

The next city where Amur will play is Nizhny Novgorod. There the “tigers” will have to fight with the local “Torpedo”. The match will take place this Saturday, October 21.
