The Kazakhstan prosecutor’s office confirmed the extradition of a Russian to Thailand

The Russian was extradited from Kazakhstan to Thailand due to suspicions of his involvement in the robbery, RIA Novosti reports, citing a statement from the department.

Reportedly, we are talking about Daniil Vladimirovich Ugay, accused by the Thai authorities of robbery. The request to extradite Ugay was granted on March 7.

The above-mentioned citizen is reportedly suspected of having, acting as part of an organized criminal group, extorted a large sum of cryptocurrency from a Russian family. The events took place in September 2022 on the Thai island of Koh Samui.

All of Ugai’s accomplices were already detained back in 2022. The attackers reportedly extorted 1.8 million Thai baht (about $51.5 thousand) from the Russians. The victims were engaged in real estate business in Thailand.

The above-mentioned Russian was put on the international wanted list by the central bureau of Interpol in Thailand. Currently, the detainee has been brought to Thailand from Kazakhstan and is in prison, Thai media reported.
