Kartapolov stated that there is no need for “new waves” of mobilization

There is no need to carry out a new wave of mobilization in Russia, said Andrei Kartapolov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense. In August he saidthat “there is no smell of any new mobilization.”

“There is absolutely no need for new waves, any new waves of mobilization,” said Mr. Kartapolov “Lente.ru”.

Vladimir Putin announced partial mobilization on September 21, 2022; on October 31, he announced its end, but did not sign a separate decree about this. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that 300 thousand people were drafted into the army during this time.

In September, the Ministry of Defense suggested oblige prisoners serving their sentences in places of deprivation of liberty to register with the military. According to the amendments prepared by the department, registration and removal from special military registration will take place without appearing at the military registration and enlistment offices. State Duma back in October 2022 accepted a bill allowing the mobilization of citizens with outstanding convictions for certain serious crimes.
