On May 6 and 7, Belarus hosted the Friendship Cup international karate competitions, which were attended by 1,100 athletes.
Representatives of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan competed for the awards. Pupils of the Ufa sports school No. 12 won three gold medals as part of the national team. Among men weighing up to 75 kg, Ernest Sharafutdinov won, among juniors 16-17 years old weighing up to 68 kg – Aida Bikmetova, and in the weight up to 53 kg – Aigul Sadykova. All medal winners train with Nikolai Balabanov.
