Kaluga weightlifters set 6 world records

Weightlifters from the Kaluga region set 6 world records and brought 29 medals. The Kettlebell Lifting World Championships were held in the Uzbek city of Khiva, the regional Ministry of Sports reported on Thursday, September 14.
The competition brought together more than 600 athletes from 20 countries. The Russian national team included 9 weightlifters from Kaluga and the Marshal Zhukov sports school in the Kaluga region.
During the competition, Alexandra Barbakova won 2 world records and 7 gold medals. Milena Trofimova set 2 world records and won 5 gold and 1 silver medal. Movsar Suleymanov set a world record and took 3 gold. In addition, Irina Martynova holds a world record and 4 gold medals. Natalya Barbakova is recognized as the strongest in the world in her signature snatch.
Leonid Chirkov won the long cycle and took second in the double event. The athlete Vladimir Gurov won gold in the relay race and 2 silver medals in the clean and jerk and combined events. Artyom Vasin collected the entire set of world championship awards, winning the double event, and winning “silver” in the clean and jerk and “bronze” in the snatch.
