The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation supported the introduction of the subject of military training in schools and colleges. In a positive response, Deputy Defense Minister Valery Gerasimov indicates that it is better to introduce a new subject during the last two years of study (grades 10-11) and allocate 140 hours for it.

One of the main initiators of the return of the NVP is Yana Lantratova, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education.

“Today, in the context of the growing terrorist threat, the need for the state to especially staunchly protect the rights of its citizens on the borders of our country, children must have the necessary knowledge and skills on how to behave in critical situations that threaten life and health,” Lantratova explained to MK the reason for the need to return NVP Lantratova. – Starting next year, school programs will be supplemented with new educational modules within the framework of the OBZh, in which high school students will be taught how to handle a Kalashnikov assault rifle, provide first aid, use personal protective equipment correctly and create structures to protect personnel and shelters for military equipment. The children will master the principles of operation of the F-1 and RGD-5 defensive grenades, the basics of drill training, actions in modern combined arms combat, knowledge of the composition and armament of a motorized rifle squad on an infantry fighting vehicle, etc.

According to Lantratova, the modules have already been included by the Ministry of Education in the draft Federal Basic General Education Program of Secondary General Education. “For the time being, it is assumed that the lessons will be taught by teachers who have the appropriate qualifications.” To the question of “MK”, which teachers are meant, Lantratova explained: “If there are teachers in schools with “combat experience”, then they will be offered to teach the subject. But not all schools have ex-military people. In principle, there is a shortage of teachers in the country, especially male teachers.”

Those who studied in Soviet schools remember very well how they assembled and dismantled automatic weapons for speed (it’s good that then schoolgirls weren’t allowed manicures!), went to shoot at shooting ranges and put on gas masks. They also threw grenades and trained on their comrades to “stop the bleeding.” Children rejoiced at the opportunity to escape from the exact disciplines and “play war games.”

– I consider it important to return the NVP to schools, – Victor Panin, Chairman of the All-Russian Society for the Protection of Citizens’ Rights in the Sphere of Education, expressed his opinion to MK. – In these classes, the necessary skills of protection, skills of behavior in difficult life situations are instilled. As for the additional burden on students, I believe that it can be avoided, since for NVP, most likely, they will take away half of the hours from OBZH, or even replace this subject with NVP (since many OBZh topics are part of the NVP).

“We haven’t been told anything about this yet,” Olga Igorevna, a teacher in the capital’s school, shared with MK. – My personal attitude is that the time is certainly disturbing. For a long time we were deceived by the fact that all this would not be useful. God forbid, of course, but it’s better to spread straws. ”

“We don’t have any specifics in the region,” Vladimir Bryukhov, a teacher of history and social studies at the Chelyabinsk Lyceum No. 35, a member of the All-Russian Expert Pedagogical Council of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, told MK. – The need for training in military affairs is partly closed by the cadet classes, which are in a couple of dozen schools in the city. Parents already in the first grade can send their child to a “cadet school” with more or less clear expected results of such education.

For everyone else, there are OBZH and military training for tenth graders. There, if you’re lucky, teenagers will be allowed to take a couple of shots from the AK, but this is more the exception than the rule.

The 140 hours proposed by the deputies is 2 years, 2 lessons per week. Problems may arise – how to squeeze two hours of CWP into an already inflated curriculum by various initiatives, find teachers and purchase the necessary equipment. Let’s wait for the text of the bill and see if it contains the coveted line “will not require additional spending from the federal budget.”

Parents’ opinions regarding plans to “militarize” schools were divided. The mother of ten children from Moscow, Olga Turenko, considers the return of the NVP useful: “Children should be ready for the current reality,” Olga told MK. “But it’s better that this knowledge will never be useful to them!” If only these lessons did not become a formality for reports and an extra burden.

“I have a bad attitude towards the return of NVP! – Muscovite Galina, mother of 12-year-old Nastya, expressed the opposite opinion. – Firstly, I have very negative memories. We were wildly intimidated with pictures of a nuclear explosion, forced to put on ancient smelly gas masks, I could not disassemble the machine gun, and I even cried because of it.

And, secondly, NVP and militarized physical education (throwing grenades, crosses) have no place in the 21st century. We must prepare our children, especially at school, not for war, but for a peaceful, happy life!
