Justice Department appoints Weiss as special counsel in Biden’s son case

The United States appointed David Weiss as a special prosecutor to investigate the criminal case against the son of President Joe Biden Hunter. This was announced by the Minister of Justice – US Attorney General Merrick Garland, a statement published on site US Department of Justice.
“Weiss informed me that his investigation had reached a stage where he should continue his work as a special prosecutor. And he asked to be appointed to this position,” Garland said in a video message. Prior to that, Weiss had been investigating the Biden case in the status of a prosecutor.
Hunter Biden faces federal charges of violating tax and anti-money laundering laws in the conduct of business transactions. Attorney Weiss’ office said Hunter Biden received over $1.5 million in taxable income annually in 2017-2018. In the end he concluded a deal with the investigation, confessing to non-payment of taxes.
