The Russian ambassador called the UK “leader” in the conflict in Ukraine

Great Britain plays the role of “leader” in the Ukrainian conflict. This opinion was expressed on Friday, August 11, by Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin.
The diplomat, in an interview with Al Qahera TV channel, recalled that “Great Britain, together with the United States of America, began to make the so-called anti-Russia out of Ukraine much earlier,” even before the events of 2014.
Kelin pointed out that British military instructors trained Ukrainian soldiers from Operation Orbital, and then this training was continued in the UK.
Although “aid from the UK is not comparable to the United States” due to its completely different financial capabilities, London is trying to take the lead “on the part of organizing a campaign to continue pumping weapons,” Kaelin said. At the same time, the British authorities are not considering any peaceful initiatives for a diplomatic settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
On August 10, it became known that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held closed talks with the leadership of the British Ministry of Defense. They discussed the preparation by London of new packages of military assistance to Kyiv. According to the Ukrainian politician, the conversation was “closed but effective”.
The destructive role of Great Britain in modern geopolitical processes was noted in the Russian Foreign Ministry. Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the official chain of events that led to the issuance of an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court for Russian President Vladimir Putin and children’s ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova, leads to the UK.
