Japan begins taking water from Fukushima to test tritium levels

The Ministry of the Environment of Japan has begun testing the water off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture for the content of tritium. About it informs Kyodo agency.
On the eve of the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant, they began to dump water purified from radiation into the ocean. In the next three months, Japanese experts will weekly analyze samples for the content of tritium.
Samples will be taken at 11 locations within a 50 km radius of the drop site. The first results will be published on 27 August.
Recall that the purified water began to be discharged a kilometer from the coast through an underwater tunnel. Previously, it was diluted with clean sea water.
