Izvestia learned about the supply of smartphones with Aurora OS to the Federation Council

Russian officials have begun testing smartphones with the Aurora operating system. Several dozen such devices have already been delivered to the Federation Council, write Izvestia, citing a source in one of the government agencies.
According to the interlocutor, devices of several Russian brands are involved in testing, including the equipment manufacturer Aquarius. He added that the number of gadgets could be increased if the experiment is successful. The source suggested that senators and their assistants, as well as groups of employees of the Federation Council who regularly interact with each other, will be the first to test smartphones with a domestic OS.
The start of testing was also confirmed by Izvestia’s source in the Federation Council, adding that it was premature to talk about its first results. He clarified that two types of devices were received by the upper house of parliament – a tablet and a smartphone. According to the interlocutor, gadgets with a Russian OS should “prepare the ground” for a possible transition to domestic devices.
The Open Mobile Platform (owned by Rostelecom) is responsible for the development and implementation of Aurora. The press service of the company did not comment on the supply of gadgets to specific customers, but noted that the use of devices at Aurora is growing.
In June, the FSB reported about the disclosure of a US intelligence operation using a virus on Apple mobile devices. In addition to Russian users, the special service also found a virus on the gadgets of foreign subscribers using SIM cards registered with diplomatic missions and embassies in Russia.
After that, employees of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Federal Customs Service, the CEC and the Federal Air Transport Agency were banned from using Apple equipment for official purposes. The ban also was introduced in all divisions of Rostec.
August 9 TASS, citing a source in the transport industry informedthat employees were banned from using the iPhone Russian Railways. The press service of the holding told Izvestia that the Aurora OS was installed on several thousand devices for the tasks of the mobile application for operational personnel. They added that work is underway to adapt the software and transfer users.
