German and Italian nutritionists in a joint study found that replacing eggs with nuts will make breakfast healthier for the heart. They published their discovery on the Springer website.

Scientists wanted, in particular, to find out whether regularly eating nuts for breakfast would benefit the body. To do this, they recruited volunteers to participate in the experiment. The subjects from the first group had to eat whole grains or cereals instead of meat, replaced eggs with nuts, and used olive oil instead of butter.

Upon completion, it was found that replacing 50 grams of meat with 30 grams of whole grains reduced the potential risk of developing cardiovascular disease by 36%. But consuming olive oil instead of butter was not as effective and reduced the likelihood of disease by only 4%.

Giving up eggs in favor of nuts potentially reduces the risk of developing heart and vascular diseases by 17%, scientists have found. The risk of developing type 2 diabetes also decreased by 18%.
