It is cheaper for German pensioners to go on vacation to the south than to pay for heating, so they are actively booking tours to African countries, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia reports, citing foreign media.
The main reason for this phenomenon is the sharp rise in heating prices. German pensioners prefer to spend time in countries such as Turkey, Tunisia, Egypt, the Canary Islands, Thailand, Senegal, Cape Verde and the Caribbean.
According to the publication’s calculations, winter heating for a couple of pensioners will cost 600 euros per month, while a year ago it was 200 euros. At the same time, life in resorts in southern countries will cost them much less, while there is an opportunity to save on products thanks to the all-inclusive system.
