Ksenia Sobchak again hit all the news feeds by posting an apology to the head of Rostec, Sergei Chemezov, on her telegram channel. We spoke with one of the journalist’s employees to find out what has changed in the media group after the arrest of commercial director Sobchak and her departure abroad.

“Ksenia has returned, but she does not report to us about her movements,” our interlocutor, who wished to remain anonymous, noted. “She still has little contact with editorial offices (telegram channels and YouTube projects – author). But everyone became calmer, many who packed their bags changed their minds about leaving.

– Sobchak wrote that she took the editorial office to the country of the near abroad …

– It’s about our telegrammers. They are in Armenia, live and work remotely from Yerevan. This was due to our assumption that, in connection with the case of the “Extinguish the Light” channel, they would try to find fault with the main projects (“Beware of the News”). I communicate with YouTubers, they are all in Russia, no one left, no one was taken out.

– Ksenia also said that she would return the journalists when it became possible. Judging by the published apologies, the ice has begun to melt?

– I do not know. There is an opinion among us, which has been repeatedly voiced, that in this story, not only Sobchak, but also Chemezov himself could be the target. I don’t think they are fighting now. True, according to my information, none of the telegrammers have yet been told to return.

– In general, was there any statement from the boss, a motivated appeal to the employees so that there was no panic?

— No, there was nothing of the kind.

How has your work changed?

— Not globally. I can observe that they work more restrainedly with “sharp” topics with political overtones. I heard that some employees deal more with passing criminal topics than with the current agenda.

– Previously, photographs of the agreement were published, from which it follows that the owner of the telegram channel “Extinguish the Light”, where, according to the investigation, a “block on negative information” was offered for money, is Ksenia Sobchak herself. Can you comment on this somehow?

– This is standard paper. It is quite possible that she really was, and maybe even Ksenia herself put her signature there. But how else in the media sphere to regulate where you invest your resources? This does not at all prove that Sobchak extorted something from someone. Have you ever seen contracts for participation in their projects on federal channels? There, fines are indicated in millions for disrupting filming, or, for example, for disclosing information. And often the first head of the channel is the party to the contract. Although he is not responsible for everything that his editors collect.
