Russia’s population has dropped to 146.2 million
The average population of Russia as of January 1, 2024, preliminary, amounted to 146.2 million people. This is 244 thousand fewer people than as of January 1, 2023.
According to Rosstat, 109.605 million Russians live in cities, 36.597 million – in villages.
It is noted that this is a preliminary estimate of the average resident population. The statistics did not include the population of Donbass, Kherson region and Zaporozhye.
