The principles for the participation of FSB bodies in the selection of citizens of the Russian Federation who are subject to conscription for military service were developed by the department. Developed by Service draft government resolution on amendments to the Regulations on conscription for military service was submitted for public discussion on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts.

The preparation of the document was required in connection with the adoption of a federal law last December, which provides for the possibility of military service in the FSB. This required the preparation of several new regulations at once. The first is a draft Presidential Decree that will give the FSB a new function: in order to staff security agencies, it will participate in the selection of citizens subject to conscription for military service.

The newly posted document defines the rules for department participation in the selection of recruits. In accordance with the current rules, commissioners must submit to the draft commission a proposal on the preliminary assignment of a conscript to a branch, branch of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, other troops, military formations and bodies. Taking into account this proposal, the commission makes a final decision on where exactly the conscript will serve. After the government adopts the draft resolution prepared by the FSB, a proposal for the preliminary assignment of conscripts to the Federal Security Service will be submitted to the draft commission after agreement with the department’s authorities.

In addition, the FSB determined that conscripts who will be sent to military service in the border troops will have to meet the same requirements as future special forces, paratroopers and marines, that is, the highest.
