The International Skating Union (ISU) published on Instagram (owned by the banned and recognized extremist Meta in the Russian Federation) a new announcement for the European Championships. A photograph of the current singles skating champion Anastasia Gubanova, who changed her Russian sports citizenship in 2021 and began competing for Georgia, was added to the publication.

Earlier today, a post was published on the ISU Instagram page with photographs of the reigning European champions in each discipline. However, in women’s single skating, the photo was presented not of Gubanova, who won gold at the European Championships in 2023, but of Luna Hendrix, who became the second figure skater from Belgium.

Anastasia Gubanova was born on December 2, 2002 in Tolyatti. In 2006, she moved with her family to St. Petersburg, where she began figure skating. In 2021, the Georgian Figure Skating Federation announced Gubanova’s transfer to the Georgian national team. The Russian Figure Skating Federation has granted Anastasia Gubanova permission to change her sports citizenship in 2020.
