The Russian members of the ISS crew checked the condition of their muscular apparatus on the eve of the spacewalk, TASS special correspondent, cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev reports.
According to him, the astronauts attached sensors to their bodies before doing physical exercises, including on a bicycle ergometer. The readings of the sensors were transmitted to Earth by medical specialists.
During a spacewalk, the pressure in the space suit requires astronauts to put in some effort to get the job done. To check the readiness of astronauts for the exit, an assessment of the state of the muscles of the body is carried out.
The spacewalk is tentatively scheduled for August 17. Oleg Artemiev and Denis Matveev will be engaged in extravehicular activities. They will have to mount the elbow cameras for an additional view of the ERA manipulator, transfer and connect the external EMMI control panel, and dismantle the starting rings to make the ERA manipulator lighter. The duration of extravehicular activity is calculated at six hours and 46 minutes.
