Israeli scientists spoke about the dangers of sweeteners
[ad_1]
The Weizmann Institute of Science has found that artificial sweeteners are not as harmless as many people think.
In a scientific article published in the August issue of the journal cell, the researchers reported that known sugar substitutes can affect the composition and activity of gut bacteria (the microbiome) and instead of lowering blood sugar levels, they increase it. The extent of exposure will vary between individuals as everyone has a unique microbiome.
It is also reported that back in 2014, scientists experimentally found that artificial sweeteners can change the composition of intestinal bacteria in mice and, instead of preventing the increase in sugar levels, showed the opposite effect.
