Israeli hostage rescue operation ends in failure and casualties

The Israeli army last night carried out an unsuccessful operation to free hostages in the Gaza Strip, the IDF press service reports.

The day before, the Palestinian Hamas movement reported that when the Israelis tried to free the hostage, 25-year-old soldier Saar Baruch, he and several other Israeli soldiers were killed.

The IDF, in turn, says that it has no casualties (but two soldiers were seriously wounded), but, on the contrary, Hamas has losses.

The press service’s report does not literally mean that it and Hamas are talking about the same clash, but at the end the press service adds that Hamas is waging psychological warfare and should not be trusted.

“This night, two IDF soldiers were seriously wounded in an operation to rescue hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. During the operation, numerous terrorists who participated in the kidnapping and holding of hostages were killed. The hostages were not rescued during these actions,” the Israeli military said in a statement.
