Coach of Russian gymnasts Irina Viner admitted to participating in their personal lives
According to Starhit, Irina Viner, president of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation (VFCG) and coach, shared their approach to the personal lives of their pupils. “I’m not only in control of the personal lives of my pupils, I participate in it,” Wiener said.
She also said: “For my children, I am a mother,” noting that their real parents are at home. “Girls bring suitors to me, I look at them – I approve or disapprove,” Wiener said.
Earlier, world champion in rhythmic gymnastics Yana Batyrshina spoke about the difficulties she faced during her sports career. According to her, after the collapse of the USSR, she moved from Tashkent to Novogorsk with Viner, without a mother and father. The gymnast admitted that it was difficult for her alone, and she thought about ending her career, but Wiener managed to persuade her family to move to Russia.
In March of this year, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) suspended Viner for 2 years due to her offensive remarks about refereeing the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Because of this, the coach will not be able to participate in or obtain accreditation for international competitions and FIG events, including as a coach and head of delegation.
