During the International University Sports Festival in Yekaterinburg, judoka Sabzkar Marzieh from Iran refused to take off her hijab before entering the tatami and was not allowed to fight.
The press service of the event explained that the ban on wrestling in hijabs is provided for by the rules of the International Judo Federation, since it is recognized as traumatic.
The festival runs from August 19 to 31, and athletes from 36 BRICS, SCO and CIS countries take part in it. Marzie was declared in the weight category over 78 kilograms.
