The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to completely abolish the visa regime with Russia. Tehran will approve this initiative in the near future as part of the development of visa-free group tourist trips, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali told Izvestiya, inviting Russians to spend their winter holidays on the picturesque shores of the Persian Gulf.
Interest in visa-free travel between Iran and Russia was confirmed as early as 2021 when an agreement on visa-free group tourist trips was concluded. This initiative allows citizens of both countries to visit each other in groups of up to 50 people for up to 15 days without the need for a visa. On August 1, 2021, a visa-free group tourist exchange between Russia and Iran began to operate, which became an important step in expanding tourist and cultural ties between the two countries.
