The presentation took place online and was watched by several million people. The head of the company, Tim Cook, called the new products amazing and convinced them that they were ahead of their competitors in terms of power. Is it so? Ivan Yakunin will tell you.
A more powerful battery, a brighter screen, a clearer camera and a pink color – this is the new iPhone 15. The models received several updates. Instead of the so-called bangs, a dynamic island will appear on all screens. Previously, this was only available to Pro model owners. For them, another improvement has been prepared in the new line: the outer case of the smartphone will be entirely made of titanium. Most importantly, the developers have abandoned Lightning connectors in chargers in favor of USB-C for all devices. And this has been expected from the company for a long time, notes Sergey Kuznetsov, editor-in-chief of itzine.ru:
“The connector has not been improved in any way recently and there are problems with it in terms of data transfer speed. Lightning is USB 2.0. Therefore, high quality videos could not be transferred quickly to the MacBook. Now Apple is switching to Type-C in almost all devices. There are some gadgets left that do not support Type-C – these are old accessories, keyboards, mice and everything else. Most likely, Apple will update them too, but probably a little later.”
The company is already trying to make money from the update. Apple has started selling adapters from Lightning to USB-C for $30. For accessories, Apple fans will also need a new case because there are changes to the body. The Pro model now has an Action Button, replacing the silent mode switch. As planned, the user himself will be able to assign functions for it, for example, open the camera or notes with one click. By the way, about the camera: there is also a lot of new stuff, says Kommersant FM high-tech columnist Alexander Levi:
“The iPhone 15 now has a periscope camera. This is a rather complex technical device with a very serious stabilization system. This is probably one of the two main events regarding cameras. Secondly, the cameras of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max can shoot so-called Special Video, that is, spatial video. Such videos can be viewed on Vision Pro, the mixed reality glasses that Apple presented at its latest WWDC presentation.”
Another good news: rumors that Apple is going to raise prices have not been confirmed. iPhone 15 costs the same as iPhone 1 cost at release – at least $800. The price will increase depending on the amount of memory. But for Russians, due to the lack of direct supplies and the weak ruble, the cost will increase by tens of percent, says Denis Kuskov, CEO of the analytical agency TelecomDaily:
“Price characteristics, if we compare iPhone 13 and iPhone 14, varied by almost 20 thousand rubles. Therefore, at the moment we can say that in Russia the models will cost from 95-100 thousand rubles. and higher – this is for the simplest. Pro, of course, will be even more expensive. Now people are trying to keep their phone for a longer period of time, and at the same time, the share that the company had at one time – 15-16% – increased with the start of sales of the new model. Now it is unlikely that the company will be able to gain the same share. I think at best it will be somewhere around 10-11%.”
However, you can buy an Apple gadget from the new line for less money. The new Apple Watch series will cost from $400. They received a new chip and are said to be 60% more powerful than their predecessors. The main feature: the device can be controlled using gestures. The owner is asked to tap his index finger twice with his thumb so that the watch reacts to movement and, for example, receives an incoming call. The new devices will go on sale starting September 22.
