Internet traffic on BKL grew by a third over the year

In the year after the opening of the BCL, the volume of data transmission in the MTS network on the new line increased by 32%, which is 9% higher than in the metro as a whole, the company’s press service reports.
If on the BKL, which opened in March 2023, the volume of Internet traffic increased over the year by 32%, then in the entire metro – by 23%. The growth in the number of Internet users has changed similarly: in the BKL the increase was 20%, in the entire metro – 13%.
This separation of the BKL compared to other lines is due to the fact that many residents of areas where there were no metro stations before preferred the subway to ground transport, choosing a faster way to travel, and also due to the launch of MCD-3 and MCD-4, from which it is easy change to BKL.
“The growing volume of Internet traffic on the BKL indicates the high popularity of travel on the largest metro ring in the world,” said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow Government for Transport, promising to continue to introduce innovative solutions for the convenience of metro travel.
The company’s statement notes that in order to provide Internet in the metro, the modernization of the network in the tunnels was completed last year and in 2024 the frequencies in the most heavily loaded areas were optimized.
Vice President, Director of the Moscow region of MTS Dmitry Rylov commented that the construction of a communication network on the BKL was one of the company’s priority infrastructure projects.
Traffic increased the most (+50%) at the Sokolniki station of the BKL.
