Interfax: the cause of the depressurization of the Progress MS-21 became known from the negotiations of the ISS crew

Interfax reports that from the negotiations of the ISS crew with the Mission Control Center in Houston, it follows that the coolant leak from the thermal control system of the Progress MS-21 transport cargo ship docked to the station has stopped and all the coolant has leaked out.

“This morning we had a refrigerant leak from the thermal control system into space, the refrigerant leak stopped,” the agency quotes a representative of the US Mission Control Center, who said this during negotiations with the ISS crew.

The talks are being broadcast by NASA. “We believe that all the refrigerant has completely escaped,” added the representative of the PMU.

Earlier on Saturday, Roskosmos reported on the depressurization of the contour of the Progress MS-21 spacecraft docked to the International Space Station. It was reported that nothing threatens the life and health of the crew, the temperature regime and pressure on board the ISS are normal.

The state corporation also noted that the incident will not affect the further program of manned flights, the reasons for the depressurization are being investigated.

Before the depressurization of Progress MS-21, the Progress MS-22 cargo spacecraft was docked with the Zvezda service module of the Russian segment of the ISS on Saturday, the agency notes. Progress MS-21 docked at the station in October 2022, delivering more than 2.5 tons of cargo.

Now the Soyuz MS-22 is also docked to the ISS, in which on December 15, 2022, before the astronauts went into outer space, the external radiator circuit was depressurized. According to Roskosmos, the ship was damaged by a meteoroid.
