Director of the Institute of public catering of the Russian Academy of Sciences Natalya Ivanova expressed the view that the increase in the number of obese Russians should not be explained by the popularity of fast food restaurants.
Ivanova said that the cause of obesity, along with malnutrition, is a sedentary lifestyle, which many Russians adhere to. According to the expert referred to “Newspaper.Ru“, physical activity is determined by the “corridor for food fantasies” in the menu.
Ten years ago, it was believed that the average adult needed 2,500 kilocalories per day, and the new norm of Rospotrebnadzor is 2,000 kilocalories.
Ivanova also said that the rules for the provision of catering services require that the nutritional value be indicated on the menu.
