Instagram* (owned by Meta, a company banned in Russia as extremist) blocked the accounts of the sons of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, and several other pages with a large number of subscribers. This was announced by the Chechen Minister of National Policy, External Relations, Press and Information Akhmed Dudayev.

“The day before, the leading accounts in our republic on various Internet platforms were blocked,” he wrote.

According to him, the accounts of Kadyrov’s sons Akhmat, Eli and Adam and Khamzat, as well as pages telling about the activities of Ramzan Kadyrov himself and his father, the first President of the Chechen Republic Akhmat Kadyrov, have been blocked. In addition, YouTube blocked three channels of the Chechen state television and radio company Grozny.

Dudayev said that the blocking is connected with the West’s desire to “drown the voice of truth in the information field.” The accounts themselves were “key sources of information” in Chechnya, and what happened is a violation of the rights of a multimillion-dollar audience that sought to find out truthful information. Dudayev added that Chechnya will try to challenge such a decision, but the blocking “will not allow the real truth to be hidden.”
