The volume of infrastructure spending by Russian regions in the first quarter of 2023 increased by 65.5% compared to the same indicator in 2022 to RUB 325.9 billion. This is stated in the report of the analytical company Sherpa Group “Infrastructure in the regions: debt burden and budget investments in the industry”, which was reviewed by Vedomosti. The calculation is based on data from the Ministry of Finance and does not show regional budget investments in the new territories included in the Russian Federation on October 5, 2022.

The largest growth in infrastructure spending was shown by the regions of the Southern and North Caucasian Federal Districts (South Federal District and North Caucasus Federal District): 173.7 and 171.3%, respectively, to 40.9 billion and 14.4 billion rubles. These figures are consistent with Rosstat data on a sharp increase in the volume of construction work in these districts. The minimum growth rates were noted in the Ural Federal District (UrFD) – by 6.3% to 12.6 billion rubles.
