Influenza in Moscow: adults get sick more often, and children

In Moscow, the number of cases of influenza and SARS is growing, although not as intensively as last week. According to the Office of Rospotrebnadzor for the city of Moscow, the incidence rates among adults and children aged 7-14 have already exceeded the epidemiological threshold, and among children from birth to 6 years of age, they are still below the established epidemic thresholds.

The Metropolitan Department of Health also reported on the seasonal rise in the incidence on the eve. At the same time, the department noted that the capital has enough capacity both at the level of hospitals and at the level of polyclinics to provide medical care to everyone who needs it. The department also noted that there is no shortage of beds in the hospitals of the capital, polyclinic capacities are now only 75% used, and the load on the ambulance corresponds to the seasonal rise in the incidence and is not peak.

“There is no shortage of employees of the dispatch service and doctors, paramedics who go to calls,” the Health Department of the capital emphasized.

Meanwhile, as noted by the chief pediatrician of the Moscow Health Department, chief physician of the Bashlyaeva City Children’s Clinical Hospital Ismail Osmanov, the disease in infants and young children sometimes takes longer and more severely than in adults. In addition, children with chronic diseases require special attention.

“Certainly, a special risk group includes children with chronic diseases, in whom the underlying disease may worsen against the background of an acute infectious process. Therefore, the task of pediatricians is not only treatment, but also the prevention of acute infectious diseases, ”Ismail Osmanov quotes the words. Agency city ​​news “Moscow”.

In this case, the main preventive measure experts call vaccination. Now in Moscow, according to Rospotrebnadzor, slightly more than half of adults and about 70% of children are vaccinated against influenza. Those who have not yet been vaccinated can do so at city clinics and at the vaccination center, which operates in GUM daily from 10.00 to 21.00.

In addition, doctors advise less frequent visits to crowded places, take the same precautions as during the coronavirus pandemic, humidify the air in the apartment and regularly ventilate the premises. And in case of manifestation of symptoms of the disease – do not self-medicate, but consult a doctor. Moreover, the Department of Health assured that in case the epidemiological situation worsens in Moscow, there are the necessary reserves to provide citizens with quality medical care.
