With signs of the flu, the first thing to do is to provide bed rest, Vladimir Nikiforov, an infectious disease doctor, professor, head of the department of infectious diseases at the N. I. Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, told Lente.ru.
He explained that the flu is characterized by the fact that the temperature rises quickly and sharply. In case this happens, there is no need to tempt fate, you need to go to bed, drink plenty of water and wait for a doctor who will accurately determine the disease and prescribe medication, Nikiforov said.
The doctor emphasized that one should not self-medicate and advised not to rush to bring down the temperature. It is possible to reduce the temperature with antipyretics only if it is above 38.5, since fever is a protective reaction of the body.
