The launch of India’s first mall Satellite Launch Vehicle with satellites was a partial success. This was announced on Sunday by the Indian Space Research Organization.
Earth remote sensing satellite EOS-2 and small cubesat AzaadiSat were not brought to the originally planned height.
“Both satellites have been launched into orbit, however the orbit they were launched into is lower than expected, making it unstable,” the space research organization said in a statement.
They noted that all stages worked as planned, but after turning on the fourth stage engine, data was lost. The reason is being studied.
The launch vehicle was launched from the launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Center. It is located in the southeast of the country, on the island of Sriharikota. The launch took place at 09:18 local time (06:48 Moscow time).
The rocket launched the EOS-2 optical remote sensing satellite into orbit. The device weighs 145 kg and is designed to survey the earth’s surface, collect data on climatic anomalies and generate images that soil scientists, hydrologists, environmentalists, forestry and agriculture specialists may need.
The second satellite weighs only 8 kg and is needed by students in rural India for scientific research and other educational purposes.
