India, in the final document of the meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bankers, pointed to different points of view on the conflict in Ukraine, informs Reuters, citing a statement from the country’s finance ministry.

“Most members strongly condemned the conflict in Ukraine and stressed that it is causing great human suffering and exacerbating existing vulnerabilities in the global economy – holding back growth, driving up inflation, disrupting supply chains, increasing energy and food insecurity and heightening risks to financial stability. There were different views and different assessments of the situation and sanctions,” the statement said.

It also notes that the G20 is not a forum for addressing security issues, although “security issues can have significant implications for the global economy.” TASS with reference to the G20 joint statement informsthat the meeting participants agreed with all points of the final document, except for two, which declared statements about the situation in Ukraine. “All G20 finance ministers and cluster central bankers have agreed to paragraphs 1, 2 and paragraphs 5 to 17 along with annexes 1 and 2,” the statement said. These points were not approved by the representatives of Russia and China. According to the agency, one of the points expressed regrets about Russia’s actions in Ukraine, and the other – that the participants in the meeting strongly condemn military actions.

February 22 Reuters, citing sources informedthat India, which chairs the G20 this year, does not want sanctions against Russia to be discussed at the meetings of the members of the club of states. As the agency recalls, India has not openly criticized Moscow since the start of the special operation in Ukraine, calling for a diplomatic settlement of the conflict.
