India refuses to condemn Russia at G20 financial meeting

A statement appeared on the website of the Indian Ministry of Finance, from which it becomes clear that the country refused to sign a resolution condemning Russia’s special operation in Ukraine following a meeting of finance ministers and heads of central banks of the G20 countries.
India agreed that the Ukrainian conflict had a negative impact on the global economy, causing great human suffering, holding back growth, and increasing inflation.
“There were different views and different assessments of the situation and sanctions,” the Indian Ministry of Finance said in a document.
In addition, India agreed that the use of nuclear weapons is unacceptable and called the peaceful resolution of conflicts, diplomacy and dialogue as essential.
At the same time, India specifically emphasized that it did not agree with paragraphs 3 and 4 of the resolution, which gave a negative assessment of Russia in connection with the special operation in Ukraine.
