The camera of the Vikram-2 landing module of the Indian lunar automatic station (AMS) Chandrayaan-3 (Moonship in Hindi) took a photo of the surface of the Earth’s satellite, confirming the successful soft landing of the device. The photo was distributed by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on the evening of August 23.
Four hours earlier on the same day, around 15.30 Moscow time, ISRO confirmed a soft landing of the Vikram-2 module with the Pragyan lunar rover on the surface of the Moon. Thus, India became the fourth country in the world, after the USA, the USSR and China, to successfully make a soft landing on the surface of the moon and the first to successfully land on its South Pole.
