In the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg, a witness was interrogated as part of the consideration of the lawsuit of the Anacondaz group against the city administration and the police on recognizing the illegal cancellation of concerts in July 2022 at two city venues – first at the Tele-Club, and then at the Cuba beach complex.
Anna Rudneva said that she bought a ticket for the Anacondaz concert at the Tele-Club on July 21 (the day before the event), but on the day of the concert she received a letter stating that the musicians’ performance was being moved to a new venue – to the Cuba complex. “When we were already approaching the complex, we were stopped by the police, who were very numerous, with the question of whether we were going to the concert or not. Those who came to the concert were turned around by law enforcement officers. Those who went to Cuba just to relax were let through. I lied, said that I didn’t come to the concert, paid money for the entrance and went through, ”said Ms. Rudneva.
Aleksey Bushmakov, a representative of the group, noted that the testimony of the witness was needed to refute the position of the defendants. “The representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that the concert in the Cuba complex was banned, people were not allowed there for reasons of their safety – allegedly there could be some danger to their health and life. The witness testified that the entrance was free, people went there, nothing interfered with the holding of this concert. There was no threat to the safety of the people there,” Mr. Bushmakov explained.
Recall that the Anacondaz concert was supposed to take place on July 22 at the Yekaterinburg Tele-Club as part of the Pauzern Picnic festival. On July 7, the organizer of the concert (entrepreneur Gleb Yuryev) submitted a notification about this to the head of the Yekaterinburg Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and on July 11 to the city administration, but received refusals to approve the event. After that, the organizers chose another place for the performance – the beach complex Cuba, but on July 22, the police did not let the citizens who bought tickets, saying that there would be no concert.
Anacondaz musicians Artem Khorev and Sergey Karamushkin filed lawsuits with the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg, alleging that the city administration and police violated their constitutional rights to freedom of creativity and assembly, and that the police officers who prevented the audience from attending the concert “went beyond their authority.” The next hearing on the lawsuit will take place on November 10. It is planned to involve LLC Invisible Promo, the official organizer of concert tours of artists, including the Anacondaz group, as an interested person.
