In Yekaterinburg, a solemn opening of the “time capsule”, which was laid 50 years ago, took place. The event was held at the City History Museum. Members of a specially created commission headed by Mayor Alexei Orlov took part in the autopsy.
The “time capsule” is made of stainless steel 140 cm high and 60 cm in diameter. The drawings were created by the architect Petr Demintsev. It was laid in the Historical Square in 1973, and got out on August 18, 2023.
Inside the capsule were a plan of the city of Sverdlovsk, books about the city, enterprises and famous people from the Urals, statistical data about the city and population, photo and video materials. It also contained an appeal of the townspeople for posterity, which was read out by Alexei Orlov.
All materials and documents were transferred to the Museum of the History of Yekaterinburg for study. Some of them will become exhibits of the exhibition, which will be held from October 12 to November 18. After that, Yekaterinburg plans to lay a new “time capsule”.
