In Yekaterinburg, teacher of school No. 79 Kira S. sued for moral compensation from the parents of a seventh-grader who photographed his homework written on the blackboard. About it reported in the press service of the Sverdlovsk Regional Court.
The incident occurred back in October 2022. During a biology lesson, a student took a picture of the teacher. The teacher was “against publishing her image” and informed the children about this, but the photo was still posted in the class chat on WhatsApp (owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).
The teacher, outraged by this, turned to the school dispute resolution committee. At the commission meeting, the mother of a seventh-grader, Elena, explained that she learned about the conflict only from a video where the class teacher demanded that her son apologize to the teacher. The woman explained that her child was the class leader, and he was photographing the board “with the teacher’s permission.” In addition, the next day after this, the photo was deleted from the chat.
The teacher decided to recover compensation for moral damage in the amount of 50 thousand rubles from the student’s parents, explaining this by the fact that Elena did not apologize to her. The court partially satisfied the demand, obliging the child’s mother to delete the photo from the phone and pay the teacher 3 thousand rubles. The woman did not agree with the court’s decision and tried to appeal it in the Sverdlovsk Regional Court. However, the judicial panel did not satisfy the appeal.
