In Yaroslavl, a firefighter set a record in running to the 25th floor

Yaroslavl firefighters competed in running speed on the 25th floor. The competition was held within the framework of interregional competitions in the disciplines of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Firefighters and rescuers from Ivanovo, Vologda, Kostroma and Yaroslavl took part in the competition.
As part of this departmental sports day, rescuers and firefighters ran to the 25th floor of a high-rise building. The fire high-altitude race, as well as the special fire football, is carried out exclusively in full fire “outfit” – a special fire-resistant suit, a helmet and an oxygen mask with an oxygen cylinder. The distance is 550 steps or 74 meters up the vertical.
Ivan Vakhotin, a firefighter from Ivanovo, became the best at the distance. He ran 25 floors in 2 minutes 39 seconds, breaking the departmental record by 14 seconds.
“Silver” of the race was won by Alexei Makalyukin from Rybinsk. Third place went to a firefighter from Yaroslavl Dmitry Mayorov.
Firefighters note that the ability to quickly run up the stairs is vital for those who have to be rescued in a fire. During a fire, elevators are disabled, and the only way to get to the fire site on a high floor is on foot. And the faster this happens, the more likely it is to catch people in a burning apartment alive.
