In Yakutia, the state of emergency introduced due to forest fires was canceled

The state of emergency of a regional nature, which was introduced in Yakutia at the end of June, has been lifted. After a meeting of the commission on emergencies, which was attended by representatives of federal departments, the head of the republic, Aisen Nikolaev, said that over the past two weeks the situation with forest fires has “seriously improved.”
“To date, major fires have remained only in the hard-to-reach areas of the Ust-Maisky region and the eastern part of the Aldan region, adjacent to the Khabarovsk Territory. Fires do not threaten settlements,”— wrote Mr. Nikolaev in his Telegram channel. He clarified that today, August 12, there are 23 forest fires in Yakutia on a total area of 182,053 hectares. As of the same date last year, 171 forest fires were registered on a total area of 3,948,540.7 hectares.
Recall that the state of emergency of a regional nature was announced in Yakutia on June 28, then 60 forest fires were active in the republic.
According to the republican operational headquarters for extinguishing forest fires, since the beginning of the fire season, 515 forest fires have been registered on the territory of the republic on an area of 504,707.01 hectares. In the same period last year, 1,412 forest fires were registered on a total area of 5,941,663.77 hectares.
