In Yakutia, the fire of the Children of Asia sports games will be lit 100 days before the start

The progress of preparations for the VIII International Sports Games “Children of Asia” was discussed at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) under the President of the Russian Federation.

Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Leonid Spiridonov noted that the Flame of the Games will be lit 100 days before the start of the sporting event on the Lena Pillars, which are a sacred place. On the day of the ceremony, a hockey match will also be organized at the Lena Pillars, where national sports stars and young hockey players will participate. On the opening day of the Games, the fire will also be lit at the Tuymaada stadium in the capital of the republic.

Deputy of the State Duma of the 8th convocation, chairman of the public council of the federal project “Children’s Sports” of the United Russia party and Ambassador of the Children of Asia Games Vyacheslav Fetisov shared his experience of organizing one of the first Games in Yakutia. He noted that today interest in the Games has grown significantly. Leaders of the region will create a popular format. Vyacheslav Fetisov confirmed that the pole hockey match will take place at a serious international level.

Thanks to the participation of the greatest hockey players, it can serve as another holiday for the residents of Yakutia and give an impetus to the popularization of winter sports.

Vyacheslav Fetisov also said that the region is very significant both on a Russian scale and for the whole world due to climate change, permafrost degradation and scientific work in this area that is being carried out in Yakutia. As UN Ambassador for Environmental Affairs, he decided to combine business with pleasure: organize a hockey match and discuss the climate agenda.

As the Permanent Mission of Yakutia to the President of the Russian Federation emphasized, the expert session on climate will be the prologue to the International Conference on Climate Change and Permafrost Problems in 2025 in the city of Yakutsk.

It should be noted that the VIII International Sports Games “Children of Asia” will be held in the capital of the republic from June 25 to July 7 this year. Athletes will compete in 24 sports and compete for a total of 224 sets of awards.
