In the course of performing combat missions as part of a special military operation in Ukraine, a native of Buryatia, commander of the 108th Guards Airborne Assault Kuban Cossack Regiment of the Russian Airborne Forces, Guards Colonel Vitaly Sukuev, with the call sign “Legion”, died.

The officer died in the direction of Kherson. Farewell to him will be held on October 5 in the village of Nizhny Burgaltai, Dzhidinsky district of Buryatia.

“On the one hand, it is bitter and very shameful that he, at the head of his regiment, did not reach Victory. On the other hand, we are proud that Vitaly died heroically in battle without fear or reproach, without hiding behind the backs of others. Most importantly, we are grateful to military colonel Vitaly Sukuev, who exalted our people and set an example of how to live,” said the head of the Buddhist traditional Sangha of Russia, Khambo lama Damba Ayusheev.
