In Tyumen, the prosecutor’s office is trying to terminate a same-sex marriage through the court

The Tyumen prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit demanding that a marriage be declared illegal after a sex change by one of the spouses was considered same-sex. About it reported in the joint press service of the judicial system of the Tyumen region.
Earlier, a 33-year-old man applied to the registry office of Tyumen with a request to change his name and gender in the documents to a female one. The registry office committee passed this information to the prosecutor’s office, which, following the results of the check, decided to go to court. In the lawsuit, the agency employee referred to the Family Code of the Russian Federation, according to which marriage is “a voluntary union of a man and a woman.”
The Central District Court of Tyumen accepted the claim for consideration and scheduled a preliminary hearing.
Recall that the concept of “marriage as a union between a man and a woman” was enshrined in the new version of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, adopted in 2020. In December 2022, President Vladimir Putin signed law on the complete ban on LGBT propaganda in Russia.
