In Tomsk, a dam partially collapsed due to flooding on the Tom River. The road to Lake Sennaya Kurya has been washed away; the river flow, due to a sharp bend, hits the flow-directing dam and washes it away, Tomsk Mayor Dmitry Makhinya said in his Telegram-channel.

According to him, in order to reduce the load and redirect the flow of water, it was decided to remove a section of the road along Kurya. The mayor explained that this section creates a bridge and directs the flow of water onto the embankment.

“A big request to Tomsk residents: please think about your safety, don’t go to the dam now, don’t hang from the parapet of the bridge in pursuit of good shots. Crowds of people with small children walk right to the edge of the embankment,” said the head of the city.

Mr. Makhinya noted that after the work, the road will be restored.

According to the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, more than 200 household plots are currently flooded in the region. Also, a state of emergency was introduced in two areas today – we are talking about the territory within the boundaries of Zarechny and Spassky rural settlements.
