Doctors in a hospital in the Urals gave relatives the body of someone else’s grandmother

In the hospital in the city of Revda, Sverdlovsk region, patients were mixed up. The scandal occurred at the funeral when relatives opened the coffin and discovered a substitution. It turned out that they almost buried someone else’s grandmother. The Revda-Info publication writes about this story.

The granddaughter of the “deceased” Ekaterina said that the 87-year-old woman was hospitalized on February 19. They didn’t let her relatives in, they only took the packages, and when they came three days later, they were told that my grandmother had died.

The funeral service was scheduled for February 25. Relatives came to the city, some came from afar. As the granddaughter recalls, she was standing on the street when her parents came out and said: “There is another person in the coffin.”

The hospital said there was no mistake and the bodies were probably mixed up at the morgue. However, Ekaterina still made her way to the neurological department and found her grandmother alive there.

It turned out that she was confused with another 87-year-old patient who died in the next room.

The woman’s body was eventually returned to the morgue and later buried in another city where she lived.

Both families reportedly contacted the police. The issue of initiating a criminal case is being decided. Preliminary articles – negligence and failure to provide assistance to a patient.
