In the five years from 2018 to 2022, the number of syphilis cases in the United States increased by almost 80%.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) under the country’s Ministry of Health, 203.5 thousand cases of syphilis at various stages were identified in 2022. This figure was 78.9% higher than five years ago, when 113.7 thousand cases were detected at the end of 2019.
Separately, data on congenital syphilis in the United States should be highlighted. In 2022, 3.7 thousand cases were registered, which is 30.6% higher than in 2021 and 183.4% higher than five years ago.
