The press service of the department specified that, according to archival documents, the number of victims could reach 2,000, including civilians, partisans and the military.
During the inspection, among others, the remains of children were found, as well as fragments of personal belongings and clothing. “Forensic medical and forensic examinations have been appointed on the seized remains in order to establish the age, sex of the dead, and the cause of death,” the statement says. in the message.
The excavations were carried out jointly with the Dolina search expedition from Veliky Novgorod, as well as with the Call of Partisans and Avangard detachments.
