In the Kuril Islands, the school line was held against the backdrop of the eruption of the Ebeko volcano. This was reported to the city administration.
It is specified that today a volcano located on the island of Paramushir threw out a column of ash right during the solemn line, held in Severo-Kurilsk. Children and adults who gathered in the city square on Knowledge Day watched this release.
“There is only one school in Severo-Kurilsk. The solemn line is always held in the city square. Today, during the event, there was an ash emission. Children will definitely remember such a first of September,” the city administration added.
The mayor’s office noted that about 250 children went to school today.
Note that the Ebeko volcano is located seven kilometers from Severo-Kurilsk and has been erupting since 2016.
